What do the articles say about it
Vanderbilt University wrote an article about the effects of having personal devices in the classroom. The article opens with saying that it makes a barrier from the student to teacher. Having the electronics on during the class time could lead to distractions. With a powerful start they do however look at how other ways these electronic devices may affect the classroom environment in the future. They speak of teachers actually integrating the use of technology within the lesson plan. Having them use their devices for something good may make them less tempted to do something else other than the work they need to have done. Finally they touch on how if it is necessary to have these devices in the classroom it is best to set that work environment. To set a policy down that isn’t all or nothing.
With that being said the article speaks like the students are children. This is a university, is it not? Either way going forward this article does touch on topics that should be spoken about at the start of every class in the beginning of the year. When starting a new school year every teacher has a syllabus. With this there should be a decision on the electronic policy in the classroom. There will always be temptations in the classroom to get out. No matter how long ago grade school was for you there were always distractions. Technology is not to be feared, but to be embraced because it is what is coming. Maybe even coming after the teacher’s job itself… Having a discussion about electronics and embarrassing the new way of learning may be better than carrying 10lbs books around and teaching to a book and not to life. This technology can actually work in favor of the teachers as long as they work with it. Fighting against the use of technology and the ever advancing use of technology is like fighting old age. You will not win, just work with it.

List of questions
Could electronics help our younger generation further their knowledge of topics they once couldn’t learn? What does technology have to do with education? Can technology in the classroom be harmful? What are the benefits of having technology in your pocket? can this ever be used for bad? How can this affect teachers? Will electronics replace teachers? Will this benefit the types of education one could get?

This assignment is quite weird. Not given any instruction on why we had to get an odd fruit or vegetable I ended up bringing parsnip. I felt weird and or odd while coming into school. No one knew I had a vegetable in my bag, but I felt like everyone could just know. Either way if you haven’t had parsnip before it looks like an albino carrot and smells kind of like it too. The taste is quite different as it is sweet and you can make different things with it. One thing I am scared of is having it smell. I got it Tuesday and it is now Thursday and I will have to have it through the holiday break to finish writing this three day assessment. Any way that is my parsnip I hope it doesn’t change too much through the time I need it.

This is my second writing. It is now Saturday. My parents asked me why I needed to get a parsnip and now I had an answer. They liked the idea of this English assessment. They still found it odd though. The only issue is I might forget to take the parsnip out of my bag. The last few days having it in my bag was like having a little reminder that I have to write these entries though I might forget to take it out after and do something with it. With a fruit it would go bad, be messy and stuff like that. This is a root and so far is holding up. It looks the same as the day I got it. I am writing this as I am in study hall and I refuse to take it out of my bag but I am looking at it in my bag. To conclude today’s entry The parsnip hasn’t changed and I might forget to take it out of my bag…
