Biometrics are intricate biological measurements like fingerprints and facial structure. They are used to accurately identify individuals by “scanning” them with facial recognition scanners. They have been increasingly popular in security systems. They are often used as means for replacements for a password in iPhones and thumbprints can be used to open safes. Biometrics seem to be our solution to the fallibility of passwords or phrases. There are three types of biometric security. Biological biometrics uses traits like DNA or blood to identify a person. Morphological biometrics is based on traits like fingerprints and facial structures to identify a person. Finally, Behavioral biometrics are used to identify a person by examining one’s behavior like body language. While Biometric-based security systems can be tricked, biometrics is increasingly becoming more accurate.
This article answered most of my questions but glazed over a few. The major question I asked was, “Is Biometrics a technology that could be used to make the world a lot more secure?” The article covered my question thoroughly by making points against traditional passwords as a means of security. The article also pointed out that the flaws found in biometrics today are quickly being fixed. My second question asked if biometrics can be used to improve security systems and the short answer is, yes. Biometrics is a lot more reliable than passwords and other forms of security so naturally, it will be more reliable for new security systems as well. The prevalence of biometrics in today’s society is quite significant with it being present in most phones. It is also found in securities systems used around the world. The last question’s answer was vaguer than the others. I asked: “How do people use biometrics to make facial recognition technology?” While the article didn’t dive into a response for this answer, it mentioned that the hardware in biometric technology “scans” the face to work.
Biometrics
Is Biometrics a technology that could be used to make the world a lot more secure? Could it be used to create new security systems to protect personal property, bank accounts, and people? Where do we see biometrics being used today? How do people use biometrics to make facial recognition technology?

The Avocado
9-1
The avocado is very tough, bumpy and waxy. It is mainly brown and green but if you look closely, it has red and yellow spots. It looks similar to art, maybe a painting? It’s shiny and looks exactly how you expect it to look when you hear avocado. If you look close enough the pattern on the skin looks like fireworks.
9-2
The avocado has changed color to a darker brown with green patches. If I were to personify it, it would probably be a older lady. She smells earthy and while over all she is tough, she is a bit squishy in the middle. Any older injuries she sustained in my car have dried now. She is a bit heavy set. I don’t know for sure, but she is probably bruised on the inside.
