Technology and Injuries in sports

Dealing with injuries in sports is something medical professionals have been trying to decrease forever. New technology has been developed to help decrease the number of career ending injuries. One new piece of technology are high tech mouthguards that can detect the severity of a hit and let a coach know if the player needs to step off the field and address the injury. Newer helmets have shock absorbers that will fill up with air or release air to protect the head of an athlete getting tackled or making a tackle. There are also injury prevention apps that use biometrics to track how much and athlete should exert themselves during the week before a game to prevent injury.

This article has helped show me that technology is now a big factor in sports. Athletes are becoming more and more comfortable with the technology that’ll keep them safe and possibly allow them to play the sport they love longer. This article has also showed me that sports and technology is something that is constantly evolving with each other. Researchers are always looking for a new way to keep athletes safe. The only problem now is making all this new technology made easily accessible for athletes no matter their level as the technology made is extremely expensive and only high level athletes have access to it.
