Miach orthopaedics. The BEAR Implant was invented by Martha Murray, MD, founder of Miach Orthopaedics. It was created at the Boston Children’s Hospital Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, with initial research funding provided by the NFL Players Association, Boston Children’s Hospital and the National Institutes of Health. The BEAR Implant acts as a bridge between the two ends of the torn ACL. The surgeon injects a small amount of the patient’s own blood into the implant and inserts it between the torn ends of the ACL in a minimally invasive procedure. The BEAR Implant is absorbed by the body – is a resorbable implant- it os m ade from bovine collagen and is secured by sultures. It is put in between the gap where and ACL is torn.
The BEAR Implant technology would be a big improvement from ACL reconstruction surgery from Women Soccer Players who have a higher chance of tearing their ACLs during the soccer season. The BEAR Implant works by a surgeon taking the cylindrical shaped collagen which is roughly 45 mm length x 22 mm diameter and inserts a small amount into it. This allows the collagen to awake and fire. Then the collagen will be placed on one end of the torn ACL and will act as a ligament builder. The BEAR Implant was made for people who have torn their ACLs to have a second option when it comes to the surgical aspect.
I have such a liking for your blog post! The information you provided helped me and i’m sure my other fellow readers really understand what BEAR is. I want to know what your opinion is on BEAR! I know you have had trouble with your ACL so you could provide first hand information and your own feelings.
I really liked how you are connecting and figuring out how to improve ACL issues in women’s sport specifically soccer. I also like seeing your reasoning on why the BEAR implant is a good thing to improve the different ways to treat and ACL tear. It was unique to see how the surgery would happen how the BEAR implant technology will be used on ACL’s.
Your post caught my eye as I’m aware the topic you chose directly relates to something you have personal experience with. I would love to see the implementation of the BEAR technology and enjoyed how you furthered your argument with reliable sources and lists of facts. One thing I wonder is: how popular the BEAR implant will become in the future years for women’s soccer players?
I love that you’re doing your research that relates to you in a way. Like a personal experience. I also like the way you explain the BEAR implant because it gives me an idea of what it’s used for since I’ve never heard of it. I find this concept interesting.
