Diabetes is a chronic condition that interferes with the way your body produces insulin. Due to progressive technology, diabetes treatment has improved over the years to help diabetics easily manage their glucose levels. Glucose control is essential in order to avoid any issues that can occur due to high (hyperglycemia) or low (hypoglycemia) blood sugars. Some problems that can occur are eye, kidney, and nerve problems. One self-monitoring option for diabetics is a blood glucose meter. This option requires you to put a small drop of blood to determine your blood sugar. Another option is an insulin pump. The pump is a small device that is put on your body, and injects the amount of insulin your body needs into your bloodstream.
This article has helped me explore my question further in a couple of ways. First, it has made me realize that over the years, technology has evolved in such an astonishing way. I wondered how diabetics’ lives had changed due to modern technology, and after reading about some of the inventions made to help them with their glucose levels, I am interested in researching how much technology has changed over time. Also, I learned that people with diabetes have a good amount of options for dealing with the disease, so they can choose what works best for them and their lifestyle.
