This article started off by summarizing the vastness of sports medicine in a world of many careers. The article then went on to describe how sports medicine enhanced athlete’s performance with exercises for prevention of injuries. To get deeper into the article, the main points were focused around injuries and problems that many athletes faced regarding their mouth or face. This may seem to be a job for a dentist you may think, therefore, dentists and sports medicine offices work together to provide the athlete with the best course of action to recover. The oral problems faced by these athletes are not just blows to the face, yet diseases as well that many suffer from.
This article helped me better understand one of the many sports medicine careers there are in the world. Before reading this article I honestly never knew there were careers directed strictly for oral injuries due to athletics. I also learned that as a sports medicine physician you may work together with completely different businesses and offices to make sure the athlete receives the correct treatment they need. To go along with this, I never thought about how sports medicine physicians also help athletes with diseases that are holding them back in their competition and doing what they love to do.
