My Mango
Entry one: My mango is very vibrant and colorful. I feel like I’ve seen these colors on a flag from some country. It is very smooth and freckly so I assume it has spent a good amount of time in the sun. The sweetness that you smell and taste when opening a mango is unmatched. Mango has always been my favorite flavor of Italian ice from Rita’s. It reminds me of being somewhere warm and tropical so maybe I should eat mangos more often. My mango has a few bumps and bruises which could indicate it had a rough journey falling down its tree.
Entry two: My once very vibrant mango is now darkening in color. It looked orange and green before but now it looks more red. You can really tell when a mango ages based on the amount of dark spots it collects. Kind of like most elderly people. My mango has also gotten quite squishy which makes me hesitant to try it If it is anything like the Italian ice though, it will be great. It now has a sweeter smell to it which could mean it is time to eat it. I don’t want to eat my mango friend though.

It is very smooth and freckly so I assume it has spent a good amount of time in the sun.” The reference to a flag is striking. It’s what our minds do and where our minds go if we admit it. The association of freckles makes me think (1) we get freckles from sun exposure, but do mangoes? (2) Wait — they’re in the sun for long periods, too! You remind me that when readers see the mind at work, their minds work, too, and they pay attention.
