I think that the Five Paragraph format has a important presence in writing. It allows teachers to grade and analyze  effectively, while giving new and inexperienced writers the chance to follow a format. People can argue that the 5 paragraph cap will undermine students and their creativity, but I believe giving students a structure to follow can often encourage them to start the writing process. I think the 5 Essay is essential to new or inexperienced writers, but less structure overtime is important to getting writers comfortable to different styles.
