100 Word Challenge #6

This is my 100 word challenge blog post that was done on 02/24 and had the following prompt: But where did it go?” She shouted.

Chilling silence filled the air around her as she slowly moved among the trees in the forest. The moon was obscured by leaves above and cracks in the branches shed light onto the creature that she had been hiding from. It got up on two legs and the creature towered above her and it let out an ear-piercing wail. Her blood frozen and a chill spread throughout her body. She let out a shrill scream and closed her eyes, bracing for the impact. Nothing came and she glanced around But where did it go? She shouted to nobody in particular.

100 Word Challenge #5

This is my post for the 100 Word Challenge. The prompt was this photo:

My friends and I were biking around, enjoying one another’s company when I had an idea. I yelled up to the leader of our little biker gang and told him to pop a wheelie. He obliged and threw his front tire in the air, keeping a steady balance as he rode. The next in line followed suit, and I repeated the process. We were visible from miles away with our brightly colored bikes, front tires high in the air. I decided that we should head to the woods, where we had our little club house set up. The perfect day.

Thank you and hope you enjoyed!

100 Word Challenge #4

This is my blog post on the 100 word challenge. We had to include the phrase “When it just wouldn’t take off”.

Enjoy!

Some things I hate: When you are driving and get knocked off the road by another driver. When you are spinning out of control in your car. When you crash into a ditch, and you see the suitcase you had filled with your 40 thousand dollars of stolen cash fly through the window. When you see the damage to your car and when it just wouldn’t take off. When you see a pair of dirty work boots walk towards you and hear the metallic click of a pistol arming. These things cause a bit of discomfort to say the least.

100 Word Challenge #3

Here is, yet another, 100 word challenge! My prompt was these 5 words:

Bicycle   Desperate   Yellow   Warned   Greedily

My final product is as follows!

Sweat flew off the biker as he sped between yellow lines of the road, desperate to get away from the car that seemed to be gliding beside him. The man in the car was deranged, intending to run the helpless biker over. He greedily let the floor eat the gas pedal, gaining ground on the biker. He opened his mouth to yell a warning to the deranged driver but he couldn’t speak as he felt himself fly through the air. The world froze and he took in everything around him. He took in this last peaceful moment then he smiled.

Thank you for reading! Hope you got a little thrill from that, Till Tomorrow!

100 Word Challenge #2

This is my 100 word challenge #2! The prompt was this photo.

He was enjoying a nice stroll through the woods. He had been at his father’s funeral only two days ago, and this walk was his attempt to hide from his feelings. The birds chirped and the cool breeze grazed his face. He closed his eyes and decided to take in the sounds of the forest. He heard birds singing and leaves crunching then, suddenly, a voice. He shivered and turned. The voice sounded too similar to be the wind. He looked further into the forest and saw a nothing but an oddly shaped tree. Very familiar, almost human shaped.

Thank you! Hoped you enjoyed, it was tough staying under the limit because I kept wanting to add more details and make this into a story. Till tomorrow!

100 Word Challenge #1

This is my 100 word challenge! The requirements was, obviously use 100 words exactly but also to use the phrase “everything stopped and”.

I had just gotten off school and was tired from being in school and having to deal with talking to teachers face to face and not being able to just sit on my couch and relax. Then our phone rang. School was out for two weeks due to some virus. “This’ll be fun!” I said to myself. I sat from my home and watched as everything stopped and I was cut off from social interaction. Looking back now I see I should have taken it a bit more serious but, how was I to know that the world would freeze.

Thanks for reading! Till tomorrow!

Holiday blog post

Season’s greetings, everyone! I hope you all are warm and cozy! In this blog post, I will be explaining my family’s traditions and our average Christmas Eve and Christmas morning. I hope that you can compare and enjoy.

Christmas Eve– During Christmas Eve, we will normally spend it like any other day, doing normal stuff until around five. That is when we will grab a few gifts for our Yankee Swap (This link is not exactly how we play, but it is pretty much the same basis.) My mom always whips up some nice Irish bread, and we head over to my Great Aunt Sharon’s house. To give some context, my great grandmother moved to America from Ireland and had 15 children, two of which were stillborns and one who died in college. So we have 30+ people there, all direct family from one another at this party. Normally we, the kids, will play around in their backyard, and since they live on a lot of land, it is perfect for running around and roughhousing while the adults sit and talk inside. After we play around for an hour, it gets dark due to it being winter. So we head inside to talk, eat, and play with the dogs. Around 8 o’clock, we will start the festivities with the younger kids (10 and below) doing a Secret Santa. Then we do the Yankee Swap, and it is pretty funny because of some of the hilarious gifts that are bought. Last year, the killer gifts were: (1) A lump of Peat, (2) a tool that helps you to put on your socks and (3) our big, plush redskins pillow, which we bought and ended up bringing home! In the years prior my Uncle Skip would give us a bag full of change, and we would play some poker with the adults. I was the card shark and would clean most people out. All of my Great Uncles were master card players so looking back, I can see they let me win! But since Uncle Skip’s passing, we don’t play poker anymore during Christmas eve. After the Yankee swap, Aunt Sharon will hand out gifts, and we will head home, eagerly awaiting Santa’s arrival, unable to sleep right away. My brothers and I will normally sleep in one room together, trying our best to go to sleep but at the same time, messing with each other and getting excited about what presents we might receive. Sadly, due to Covid, we won’t be having our Christmas party this year. Due to Covid, we have missed out on a lot of family traditions, although we try to do our best to Zoom call with everyone.

Christmas Morning– After a whole night of silently smiling and giggling to each other, around rolls Christmas morning. My brothers and I naturally wake up first and whoever wakes up first is allowed to push the other off their bed to wake them up. After we are all awake, we rush into our parent’s room and wake them up. They take their time to get ready (I personally think that they just enjoy watching us run around like headless chickens while we wait for them to get ready) and once they do, my mom will go down first and wait in the living room for our reaction when we come down. We spend about an hour opening presents and don’t get much time to play with them before my Dad’s parents come by and drop off a few gifts for us, which we immediately tear apart, like sharks in a feeding frenzy. They will leave after about five minutes and after about fifteen minutes, we head to my Mom’s parents and do some present opening there. Although my Mom’s parents are there, we also meet my Aunt and her kids. Both of her kids are past college, yet one still lives there while the other has an apartment with her new husband. We were invited to the wedding with only 30 people, so it was an honor and a great wedding because the groom is awesome and really kind. One small tradition we have is to find the Christmas pickle. As gross as this may sound, it’s fun. Our grandparents have a small ceramic pickle which they hide on their Christmas tree, and the first to find it gets some sort of prize, like a battery or something bizarre like that. Another funny tradition that we have is the stocking stuffers. Everyone there has their own stocking, and they have some cool stuff, like Pez or little toys, but they are also filled with random stuff like bananas or socks, just random things that you would find around a house. It is solely for comedic purposes, and it’s really fun seeing people’s reactions to the stuff they get. Some stocking stuffers that are given every year are just passed around, and it’s fun to see who gets them each year. We spend a good amount of time at my Mom’s parent’s house before heading to my Dad’s parent’s house where we meet my uncle and have a nice dinner and open a few more presents. They live in Ashburn, so they are very close and easy to get to. So most of the gifts we open there are just for their house for us to play with whenever we are over which, pre-Covid, was a lot. After all of that excitement, we head home and go to sleep. Due to all this action during the day, the only time we have to spend with our presents is when we open them, so the next day we just chill and spend time with our presents and enjoy each other’s company.

Hope you enjoyed my holiday blog post! Final question: What is your favorite small tradition that you do during your Christmas Eve/ morning? Leave your answer in the comments and a link to your post so I can read through it all! Till Tomorrow!

My 20 Questions!

Hey guys! In this blog post I will be asking myself 21 questions about myself! Then I’ll be answering them! Feel free to respond in the comments with your answers and add a link to your blog! These questions I based off of past questionnaires I’ve received and just some interesting topics of discussion

  • What is your favorite sport

Although I play many sports, that change as the seasons change, I pick soccer because it is fun to be goalie and I have a really fun team to play with so that might be a key factor!

  • What is your favorite color

I was raised on heavy Irish pride so I’ve always loved the color green and orange but for some reason green always sticks out to me. So green, is my final answer.

  • What is your favorite TV show

I absolutely love “The Walking Dead” (TWD). I have a huge apocalypse or post-apocalypse interest so TWD is one of my favorite shows. I started watching it in 6th grade and I stopped for a bit but started back up a few days before quarantine started, so I got into it just in time!

  • What is your least favorite TV show

This seems pretty obvious but my brother who is 6 watches a lot of stupid shows and by far my least favorite is the “PJ masks” show. I have no words for how annoyed it makes me when he runs around the house singing the theme song for the 9th time in a day.

  • What is your favorite movie

Monty Python and the Quest for the Holy Grail. It’s absolutely hilarious and Monty Python is a great group that is very funny and a good comedy group that is relatively family friendly.

  • What is your least favorite movie

Trolls. Both troll movies are the worst things I have ever experienced because they are the dumbest, most pointless movies ever. I hate on trolls so much because they just frustrate me with the annoying music and unnecessary dancing.

  • What was the hardest challenge you’ve faced, related to school

I would probably say Math. With online school, Geometry and Civics, I think that this year is one of the hardest things I’ve had to do related to school but the hardest of all is definitely geometry.

  • What is the weirdest food you’ve eaten

I was tricked by my dad into eating gator in Florida. We were in a restaurant and I went to the bathroom, when I was gone my dad ordered gator nuggets so I got back and he told me it was chicken poppers. I tried one and it was super chewy and I was going to ask what it was when my brother started laughing his head off and I turned to him and through tears he said “YOU…… ATE………. A GATOR!!!!” so naturally I hit him and then spit out the gator.

  • What was your strangest injury

When I was in second grade, I was at my bus stop which is at the beginning of a cul de sac. All of the kids waiting for the bus went to the end of the cul de sac to see a patch of ice that was in the road. We all were on the opposite side of our actual bus stop and had left our backpacks there. We were looking at the ice and the bus came to our stop so we ran to the stop and I wasn’t paying attention so I slipped on the ice and my hand fell into one of the ice puddles and is smashed and my arm basically got shrapnell by ice, but it melted out and i was just left with a lot of tiny cuts on my arm.

  • What is your least favorite subject

I don’t like Geometry because it is no longer a fun challenge, it is confusing and hard to understand.

  • What is your favorite subject

On the other side, my favorite class is coding because it offers a great challenge that is within the realm of possibility and is fairly simple if you can figure out the basics.

  • What is your favorite video game

My favorite video game is Minecraft and my second favorite would have to be Rainbow Six Siege

  • What is your favorite way to play video games

Since I made my PC, that is my main way to play games with my friends. Although I will occasionally play Star Wars Battlefront on the Ps4 that me and my brothers use.

  • What is your favorite season

I love winter because I prefer the cold to the heat, probably because winter’s in virginia are crazy cold and because I grew up with constant migraines so I drank a lot of water and would cool myself off a lot so I got used to the cold and it was a relief.

  • Who is your favorite actor

Bill Murray. He is hilarious in all the movies that he is in and is hilarious in real life as shown in the hilarious  netflix documentary. My favorite movie of his is “Groundhog Day” which I think is a great holiday movie that can be watched almost any time of the year.

  • Who is your favorite comedian

My favorite comedian has to be Chris Rock. He is also one of my favorite actors but the fact that he seems constantly happy and his comedy is genuinely funny, makes him a great comedian

  • What is the last picture you took on your phone

Nothing interesting, just a photo of my PC when it wasn’t working so I could do some troubleshooting. Although a few days ago, I took a very nice photo of the window that I broke by accident.

  • What is the first animal you visit when you go to the zoo

The ostrich. Ostriches are such weird animals that I feel like it is my duty to see them at least once whenever I go to the zoo or visit an animal park. I like them because they are just random animals and it’s fun to watch them in action

  • If you could have a superpower what would it be

I would want to be able to go invisible on command. I think that this would be the best power because you could punch people (My brothers) and I could eat as much ice cream as possible without my parents knowing!

  • If you could go anywhere with any two people where would you go,

who would you take and why

I go to Ireland with my mother and my great grandmother who immigrate from Ireland because I know my mom would love to be with her there and I’d love to see my great grandma one more time.

  • If you had a million dollars, what would be the first thing you buy

If I gained one million dollars, the first thing I would buy would probably be a new PC. I know that there are a lot more things I should be getting, and I would get to that but the first thing I would do would be getting a new PC because one of the things I could get right away with no significant cost and more importantly no paperwork.

My avatar

Hey all you cool cats and kittens, this is my blog post about my new avatar! I will be explaining my reasoning for why I chose the design and style that I did.

I have a reason behind every item in my avatar and even the background!

Dog- My first dog that we got when I was a year old was a German shepherd, and I grew up with him until he passed away in two years ago from cancer.

Cleats- I play many sports, but I am most focused on soccer. Well, currently the only sport I play is surfing, couch surfing that is, due to my broken arm. I have played basketball, baseball, flag football, track, swim, soccer and 5 years of taekwondo.

Pants- I picked these white pants because they are baseball pants and, as I said, I play a lot of sports. But I chose baseball in particular because It was my favorite team sport. As in I sucked at actual baseball and just enjoyed spending time with my teammates.

Headphones- I absolutely LOVE music. It is what helps me through all my school work and when I workout, it’s the main things that gets me through the fact that I hate working out.

Background- I picked this one because It looks like a nice and calm beach and my great grandfather got a bunch of land in Ocean City, Maryland. When it first started, it was just one beach house but now it’s a street filled with apartments and one little beach house, sitting like a sapling between giant oak trees. Now my grandfather owns it and we go there almost every holiday. We were at there for 1 1/2 months during the beginning of quarantine, and I enjoyed every second of it. The reason it reminds me of a sunset is because we went across the street to the bay side to watch the sun set and got the cops called on us for ‘trespassing’ in an apartment complex when we just stood on some grass. Not related but I thought it was cool. We found a WW2 civilian gas mask while we were snooping around in a spot we haven’t been before.

Necklace- I added this because I have been wearing the same necklace since 5th grade. It’s nothing special, just a bunch of metal beads, with a wire through them. I don’t know why but it has a lot of sentimental value for me. As I feel like its been with me through the hardest years of my life, so far. I am not particularly religious, so I didn’t pick the cross because of that reason, I picked it because of limited options.

Tie-dye shirt- My family has a thing for tie-dye shirts. I don’t know what it is but we seem to make/buy tie-dye for most, if not all, of our celebrations.

Body and Features- This one is simple. I picked the body and features that I did because it Is an accurate representation of me (Or as accurate as I can make it with my limited options! i.e. No mouth or freckles!)

This is a explanation and I hoped you enjoyed and immersed yourself into my world for a while. Responsive question!: If you were trapped in a room with one door that was locked, who (From any point in time) would you have help you get out? (Optional extra credit is you give some reasoning!) Till Tomorrow!

How to #1

My first official post (Aside from My “About the Author”) Will be as stated in my About the Author, a chess post. This move is called an En passant (Pronounced “On pa sount”). I’m going to base this off of the knowledge that you know how to play chess. If so, then you should understand this move. If not, comment and I will add a post explaining the basics of how to play chess.

This move is fairly simple but the opportunity rarely comes up in game. The reason being is that it can only happen in one scenario. It does not matter which two pawns you move How it works is the person performing the move will have to have a pawn three spaces up from the original pawn line (Not including moving from the pawn line as a move). Then, It doesn’t matter how many moves later, the other person opposite to the attacker, must move their pawn up two spaces. only immediately after that move are you allowed to do En passant. The actual move is much easier then the setup required, simply move your three space pawn on the square directly behind the recently moved opponents pawn, and take the recently moved pawn. That is an En passant. Till Tomorrow!
