Sketchbook Pages

Blog Post #1 – First Art Project

For my first project, I was inspired by The Creation of Adam, more specifically, I was inspired by the hands. The hands reaching in the middle of the painting is well known, especially if you find yourself on Pinterest looking at aesthetics. Images of the hands reaching have been redrawn and made into tattoos.

By seeing all of these photos incorporating the piece I decided that I wanted to create a piece that fit into the aesthetic that The Creation of Adam fell into. This led me to the idea of creating a scene of clouds at sunset painted in acrylic paint. On top I wanted to include two hands facing downwards, held together the in the act of interlocking pinkies. As of right now I’m debating on whether I want to draw the hands in graphite or color pencil. Although, I think I am leaning towards graphite, as I think it will emphasize the hands more. Below I attached my first sketchbook page. I basically used this page to practice drawing hands more and experiment with painting clouds.

  2. WOW! I love your concept. I’m super jealous, because I always struggle with drawing hands. If I were you, I would have tried to play more with the positions of the hands. Maybe, try to keep the proportions of the fingers the right shape and size.

  3. I saw your finished painting, and I really like the growth I see from your process page, especially in the shape of the hands.
