Student Blogging Challenge #1

Hello again, it’s AC! As you may know, the Student Blogging Challenge started this week and my class is participating in it! This week’s blogging challenge was making an avatar using different websites provided on Edublogs. The website’s avatars had different styles, so everyone had a different spin on each of their mini-me’s! Some avatars were cartoons, and some looked more realistic. Along with making an avatar we also had to explain why we wanted to make it look a certain way and how it represents you.

Click on the Google Slides above to see my communications class’ avatars. Along with looking at our avatars, you could even make an avatar yourself! In the Google Slides presentation, we linked all the websites we used to make our avatars.

Since the Student Blogging Challenge is all about visiting people’s blogs from all around the world, I figured that I could link my classmates’ blogs! Read the sentences of my classmates’ interests below, then click on the link. If you have the same interests as them, make sure to comment on their posts and share your URL with them!

A-Z About My Name

Hey everyone! For those who don’t know me, my name is Anna Claire. I started blogging just a few weeks ago for my communications class. So far my class and I have done a how-to video, published our All About Me posts, and are planning a Breast Cancer Awareness campaign for our school.  I thought communications would be so enjoyable and fun for me because I think that writing is my gift.

Since this post is like a part 2 of my All About Me post, I am going to talk about my name and the history behind it. If you do get to know me well, just remember that I don’t go by Anna, it’s Anna Claire!! Sit back and relax for a little history lesson behind my name.

My fraternal grandma, who I call Ma-Ma, is named Patricia Ann. Hence, her middle name is how Anna became my first name. Even though I go by Anna Claire, the name on my birth certificate says Anna Clarice. I know, a little confusing! My dad likes to joke that the Clarice in my name came from the main character, Clarice Starling, in the Oscar Winning movie, The Silence of the Lambs. The name Clarice came from my great-great-grandma’s first name. Some people might not like being named after someone in their family because the name has already been used before, but I think it’s quite special to have one of your relative’s names seamed into yours.

Also, I looked up my name on Google and found that Anna means “grace” and dates back to Biblical times. I also found that Anna is an uber popular name. Records say that 861, 364 girls have been named Anna in the U.S. since 1880. Clarice and Claire both have similar meanings. I found that their meanings vary depending on the country/ culture, but the names usually mean “bright”, “clear”, and “famous”. I hope that most people would agree that my name’s meaning works well with my personality.

I hope that everyone reading this eXcerpt of my blog enjoyed it and was interested! You will definitely want to come back to see more zany and cool posts from my class’ blogging challenge! As always, make sure to drop a comment with your URL and share!
