One little word blog post

This is my “One Little Word” blog post. The word that I chose was Hopeful. I think this word really just captures 2021 because with 2020 being such a mess, we can only be hopeful and look towards brighter days to come. Hopeful can also be an acronym:

Having optimism

Open to new Ideas

Perfecting skills you are good at

Effort given to important tasks

Fully paying attention to your work.

Understanding mistakes and working to fix them

Looking to the future

This word will help me move forward by not giving up and staying Hopeful throughout the year and give me optimism. Some goals I have for myself are, to try and read more. I’ve been reading less and less and been paying more attention to my phone and PC so I’d like to get back to that. Another goal would be to play more chess. I really like playing chess but nobody in my family really wants to play so most of the the time I turn to online versions. Finally the last goal I want to keep for myself is to spend more time learning about things that interest me, like history and the mechanics behind modern machines.

The way I plan to achieve these goals is by being hopeful when it seems as though I cannot complete these goals and by setting my mind to them and driving forward. The main idea behind my word is that, even though it may seem rough and the times may get tough, you must be hopeful and persevere through the bad times in order to accomplish your goals and finish what you started out to do. Winston Churchill embodied the meaning of hope when he stated “All the great things are simple, and many can be expressed in a single word: freedom, justice, honor, duty, mercy, hope.” This statement shows how hope is a powerful word with a meaning that is expressed through a single word and compares it to other strong words like honor, duty, mercy and freedom. Finally to end it off, give an example of how hope can change your imagination, future, or thought process. Make sure to leave your answer with your url at the bottom!
