100 Word Challenge #10

This is my submission for the 100 word challenge for 03/24! The prompt was this phrase;

“No,” he said, “I like Marmite”

I did the best I could with it and here’s the result!

He stared at the tall Russian from across the street. He knew the code words by heart but went over it in his head once more as he waited for the signal, an ox cart piled with apples passing between them. The signal came, and he crossed eagerly, listening to the phrase the Russian muttered. “Do you like jam?” the Russian asked. “No,” he said, “I like Marmite.” The Russian nodded and handed over the wrinkled black leather suitcase. He took the suitcase to the car that awaited him, giddily chatting up the driver, excited that it went so smoothly.

Thank you for reading! Till Tomorrow!

  1. Hi Patrick,
    I enjoyed reading your story. Well done.
    I loved how you used the prompt as code words.
    It leaves me wanting to know more.
    What exactly was going on?
    What was in that wrinkled black leather suitcase?
    Great work this week.
    Keep writing.
