My kiwi’s journey over the days

Entry 2- A few days later my kiwi is still firm, however it is getting squishier. When I look at it it reminds me of an old man because of the brown color and the lines, which reminds me of my grandpa’s wrinkles. The kiwi, seemed lonely in my room, maybe I should bring another kiwi upstairs to keep it company. Anyways am I wrong for not eating it yet? Perhaps I will eat it once it gets squishier. We’ll see?

Entry 3 – Today my kiwi and I went to Wegmans to study. My friend Asia, who is with me started petting it. After she was done, I started touching it and realized it was a lot squishier today. Perhaps I should eat it. However, my friend named it Zespri, so now Zespri cannot be eaten. When she named it, it reminded me of my cousin, who would name fruits when he was younger. Once I go home, maybe I will eat it. A few hours later, I got home and it is gone now. I ate the squishy kiwi.

  1. I liked how you described the kiwi with personification and gave is some humanity in a way. The mentioning of a memory and connecting it with the kiwi was a nice touch. I giggled a little bit once I saw the name Zespri, and it’s almost exotic sounding.

  2. I love the internal dilemma over eating Zespri as it really gave depth to your entries. Asia petting it made me smile cause she’s right in the sense of kiwis being a great thing to pet since they are so fuzzy.

  3. Your comparison to an old man really made me visualize the wrinkles. I love how you took your kiwi to wegmans, it sounds like you really bonded. I also really like the name Zespri for a kiwi!

  4. That’s willpower! Eating the Kiwi even after naming it. That’s so funny about your cousin naming fruits. I wonder if the young might do that as part of their innate sense of the dignity of creation. Anyway, this is very thoughtful writing. (I’m also glad that Wegman’s didn’t charge you for the kiwi a second time!)
