Legislators in the state of New York have made a deal to legalize recreational marijuana for those over 21. The law would allow people over that age to grow marijuana at home for personal use and allow retail sale as well. Additionally, the state plans to decriminalize possession of certain amounts of marijuana.

“BIPOC communities are extremely affected by over-policing of weed ownership, so I hope they stick to their word and release the people they’ve incarcerated for that previous to the law as well,” student Noah said.
