Children’s Author Beverly Cleary Passes Away

Beverly Cleary, the esteemed children’s book author, passed away this Thursday at 104 years old. Cleary has published over 40 books since 1950, and many of her characters are common figures in every child’s life. Characters like Ramona and Beezus, Henry Huggins, Ralph S. Mouse were all staple pieces in every kid’s book collection.

Cleary began her writing career after working in a children’s library after college and published her first book, Henry Huggins, in 1950. She has sold more than 85 million copies of her book and they have been translated into 29 different languages. Even after her passing, Cleary’s works of literature will continue to be a big part of children’s lives everywhere.
