Sketchbook Spread 2.2

Welcome back!

This is my inspiration board for colors. I chose simple and soft colors to represent childhood and innocence. The girl needs to represent liveliness and kind-hearted energy to bring the drawing alive. I’m currently creating a media study for colored pencils and plan on posting that soon!

See ya next entry!

I can totally agree! When using soft warm colors you can see a more happy, easy going life. I feel like it expresses more care free kind of joy. It really fits your piece because you’re making a piece reminiscing something from your childhood, so a ton of sentiment will be emphasized. Your collage is really cohesive and interesting to look at, well done!

Yes! I’m so glad you posted this spread of yours because I feel like your reference images kind of conveys an innocent and youthful vibe. I think since your concentration is very personal to you, I feel like you won’t have any problems on showing the emotion of the little girl. Really excited to see the finishing product!

Love the spread! It is very interesting to look at (I want to try this kind of format)! When I think of innocence/kindness, I think of the colors of a peach! Warm yellows and pinks, cream, with some deep warm reds, which I see in your spread. I would love to see some more of the lighter and brighter colors and tone down on the deep colors though. I heard somewhere that yellow sparks happiness while reds can have the potential for darker themes which might take away from the piece. Just something to think about. Great work my dood!

I think you captured innocence and liveliness really well! I just wonder what subjects you’ll put in you piece to implement these colors in. Would you put these colors more in the background or make them the main focus? What other color(s) would you use to enhance these? You’ve got a lot of great opportunities with your ideas; can’t wait to see what you come up with!

I like the way that you designed your sketchbook, it’s simple, yet conveys your idea. The colors and pictures definitely evoke a soft and innocent feeling. How exactly are you placing the girl? Is it just her feet like in the sketchbook, or is that a part of a bigger picture? I think that colored pencils are a great media for this because it is easy to achieve a “soft” texture.
