A classic novel is a novel that is listed as a great book because of its exemplary or
noteworthy message. Huckleberry Finn, even though it is known as “a controversial novel” by
many people, is a classic novel because of its amazing literature such as its diction, tone, and its
message. I do not know how I feel about this novel since it was a little hard to comprehend at
times. However, I do think it was an interesting book to read once I got the hang of the writing
style. I think this book is a must read for older people such as young adults but not high school
students because it takes a little more education to understand its context and literature. Some
people might think and argue that Huckleberry Finn is not a classic because of its controversial
message and because it is considered “crude” and “vulgar”. I think is it a classic and should be read
at some point by everyone because after 130+ years later it is still being read and enjoyed by many.
I agree with this, Huck Finn is a great read for older people but not necessarily high school students since there is not enough understanding of the topic in my opinion.
I agree with you that Huckleberry Finn can be difficult to read with its unique inflection. I believe however, that this decision by the author leads to a more realistic atmosphere.
I felt the same way about how the book was a bit difficult to understand at times because of Twain’s diction and agree that the book may be better suited for an audience other than high schoolers.
I also agree that the text should be read when people are older, like college or even senior year of high school. It is quite difficult to process many of the scenes, however the issues mentioned in Huckleberry Finn are important to understand because they are real issues that have happened before.
