I Guess I Will Bring This!

So, I might have told my friends that my brother peed his pants in the movie theater and I am now grounded. I was mad when him and my mom found out. She told me that I have to be in the middle of this island completely STRANDED! Like, who does that? Anyways, if I argue, I will get stuck here for longer. And that is just not good. All right. Now it might sound like I have it HORRIBLE, but my mom thankfully let me bring a couple things. 3, to be exact. The first thing I will bring is a tissue box (with tissues in it, of course. I definitely don’t need a stupid empty box in the middle of an island. Actually, a trash can would be helpful- NO! What am I doing? Let’s get back to what I was actually talking about) . Ok. I know a tissue box isn’t what you would expect. But c’mon. What if I get sick from jet lag or ya know, seasickness? I get that alot, actually. One time I was going to the Bahamas on a cruise and- STOOOP! Just STOP LAUREN. Anyways, a tissue box can come in handy when you spill something, or if you need to cry about the fact that your own two parents just stuck you on an island. Guess it could be helpful! The second thing is a chair. You’re probably thinking “First, a tissue box, and now a CHAIR! Please just say something that makes sensel!” And, I can agree. But really, a chair would be great comfort, and not to mention the legs on the bottom could be a great weapon. Beat that, sharks! Well, having a chair, now that I think about it would also be great to trap people in it. You lure them with the amazing comfort of the chair and BOOM! In a trap! Another thing, it will be great to sleep on other than rocks. Ahh, rocks. Fun, bone breaking rocks. The third and final thing I would bring is a friend. Company is always great for when people are stranded on islands even though that usually doesn’t happen. You know, when you want to talk about how there might be a crush at your school that you like, or when something really funny happens, and you want your friends to know about it so you guys can use it as an inside joke! Friends are always great to have around when something good or bad happens. They also can be very annoying, but not everything is perfectly good, right? Having someone around to witness what you’re feeling and what’s going on is an amazing thing to buy, so that’s why I want it to be the last thing that I bring!

  1. A tissue box, a chair, and a friend. I commend you for your originality. I also like the roundabout way that you introduced the topic, rather than just responding “three things I would bring to the island are…” There is tremendous “voice” and playfulness in the way you tell your story.
Let’s consider your three choices. Would a tissue box offer benefits after more than a couple of weeks? Don’t you think you’d be sweating and crying a lot those first few days on the island? Maybe you should think about something more useful and durable?
The chair has a couple of benefits as you mentioned, ut don’t you think there would be trees or wood to fashion your own chair? Be careful to give up two wishes so quickly. Would you consider a bigger or more useful object?
Now the third choice, a friend, has tremendous merit. I can think of hundreds of uses of a good friend on the island. This is a very good choice. Do you have a specific friend in mind? Please describe him or her.
Would you consider adjusting your first two choices. Like I wrote earlier, I enjoyed your creativity and whimsical writing, but I think you could iimprove your choices. That’s just my opinion.
