John Champe is hosting its annual PowderPuff game on October 3rd, and juniors and seniors have already started preparations. Rumors have spread that juniors have a head start over the seniors and have reportedly been doing early morning sprints to get in shape. For those who are unaware, the PowderPuff game breaks traditions and stereotypes for the night by having the senior and junior girls play football (in this case, flag football) and the boys cheer-leading.
“I joined PowderPuff because I love playing new sports and I can throw a football,” says senior, Sam Kelley. The seniors kicked off their practices today, Friday the 21st, by running drills led by coaches Jake Morril and Micah Gutierrez.
“We have been having morning practices for about 45 minutes each. We typically run through plays and do some running,” says junior Anna Skoug. “We have done two sprints the last two practices and they have both ended with donuts.” Skoug jokes. Although the current Seniors won last year’s game, the juniors this year pose a real threat to the senior team. Who will win?
