The First Female and Person of Color Becomes the New Mayor of Boston

Kim Janey became the first female and person of color to be mayor of Boston as of March 24, 2021. After the former mayor, Marty Walsh, took a spot on President Biden’s cabinet as his secretary of labor the position of mayor was handed over to Janey. This is a huge achievement for minorities and women because of how political postions throughout the US are becoming a lot more diverse. Janey plans to spend her days focusing on dealing with COVID-19 and getting the vaccine distributed all over Boston, but most importantly to communities that have been impacted the worst by the pandemic. She also plans to focus on the racially divided unemployment rates and the wealth gap, as she sees that it is a huge issue that the people of Boston are currently dealing with. All in all Janey plans to focus all her attention towards being a good leader for her people.
