The Nationals went out and signed the best left handed reliever and the second best reliever in the free agency class, Brad Hand. The Nationals signed Hand to a one year 10.5 million dollar contract. Hand is a huge addition to the Nationals’ bullpen because they really needed a left handed reliever, as Sam Clay was their only one. Clay has not pitched in the majors yet, so that’s why another lefty is such a big need. Not only that, but the Nationals can use Brad Hand to close out games or use him against left handed hitters and use Tanner Rainey as a closer. Overall, it’s a huge signing that really helps the Nationals.
