Bill Belichick, the head coach of the New England Patriots, has just announced that he will not be accepting the Presidential Medal of Freedom from Donald Trump. While the awarding of the medal had been scheduled to take place later this week, Belichick notes that the riots at the capitol have changed his decision to accept the award.

“I am flattered at the honor,” said Belichick in a public statement on Monday, “however, I am an American at heart with great respect for our nation’s democracy.”
