Bringing in Spooky Season

Friday the 13th is notorious for being a super spooky day, but to top it off, this year it is accompanied by a full moon with a little quirk. The moon is both a harvest moon and micro-moon. Since this is the full moon nearest to the autumnal equinox, which falls on September 23, it is known as the Harvest Moon. Additionally, the moon is also a micro-moon, which means it is at its farthest distance from Earth, making it appear dimmer.

“I feel like Friday the 13th is naturally spooky,” junior Trang Bui said, “but the full moon’s added onto it make it spookier.”

What makes people so hyped up about today is how rare it is. The last full moon to fall on Friday the 13th was on October 13, 2000, and according to the Farmer’s Almanac, the next one won’t take place until August 13, 2049! Have a spooky Friday, Knights!
