What is SWIS?

SWIS (which stands for School Within a School) is set up for a lot of the students here at Champe. Students who have shown a need for a quiet place to work are granted the ability to access SWIS. They come to SWIS if they are having a bad day, anxiety, restlessness, or just need a quiet place to work. Sometimes they come in when they have access so they can take a test/quiz, or when they may not feel comfortable attending an event like a pep rally because they could get overwhelmed. Other times, they go when the cafeteria gets too full. It was also found that some students may also feel more comfortable in a smaller, quieter, and less crowded places. SWIS, and the teachers that are trained to handle and help students facing the struggles mentioned before, helps students by giving them time to relax, regroup, and refocus, and get extra help with classes they may be struggling in and have a place to vent about their feelings that would be inappropriate to talk about in class.
