I don’t understand how people allowed the Holocaust to happen. I don’t understand how they could hurt innocent people. Elie Wiesel had his gold crown removed, he didn’t get anything to ease the pain. He got whipped 26 times till he fainted for no reason. Elie had to watch his father get beat because he couldn’t do anything, he was too weak. In the end he did survive but his father died, he was alone.

The reason I believe this horrible tragedy happened was due to Hitler’s cult of personality and his use of Jews as a scapegoat. After World War I, Germany was facing many economic problems such as high inflation, shortage of food, and high unemployment. After the First World War Germany became vulnerable to being manipulated by someone like Adolf Hitler. This is why many people were blinded into following a horrible human bean. We should learn from this book that history could repeat itself if do not learn from our mistakes.
