the happiest place on earth

Chapter 11 in my opinion is one of the best Chapters because he talks about  when he went to Disney World when he was 8 years old. Then 20 years later he applied for the Walt Disney imagineering, and he got the nicest rejection letters he ever received. The company had no jobs that fit his qualifications.

A Long Way Gone Thoughts

The overall build-up of the memoir has been immersive and eye-opening. Ishmael offers a vivid recounting of his childhood experiences. The world he portrays is cruel and rarely forgiving. Close encounters with death make each turning of the page more and more intense. I can’t help but to feel bad for what these people really went through. The day to day life that the children live during these times is unimaginable.

2nd part of A Long Way Gone

The second chapter hits you hard with gorey and disgusting descriptions that could make you faint if you could see an actual picture, which is only a dream. This is amazing because of how much detail he puts in this book. You really start to feel for these characters, they starve, walk for miles and hide from the soldiers, it really makes you think you have it easy

First Impressions

A Long Way Gone does a very good job of drawing the reader into the world of Ishmael Beah and his scarring childhood memories. The first few chapters offer a sudden and graphic viewpoint of Ishmael as a child along with  his friends. I’ve been thoroughly enjoying the memoir and am enjoying reading through. The first five chapters have been a roller coaster of a book so far, including graphic content and intense moments.
