Iceland

Iceland is located on the North Atlantic Ocean, has a population of 332,529, making it the most low populated country in Europe. The capital of Iceland is Reykjavik, which combined with its surrounding areas holds over two thirds of the population.  Iceland is known for its beautiful nature and during our stay, we took a few excursions to see what Iceland has to offer. One of the tours that we took was to see the puffins. We went on a boat and the tour guides gave us some very interesting information about these cute creatures and we got to have a really close look at the puffins. There are many more outdoor activities to do like see the waterfalls, ride horses, and explore ice caves.  One thing that was very unexpected for us when we arrived was the price of the food. $100 can easily be spent on a dinner for two.  Without a doubt the most memorable part of my trip was visiting the Blue Lagoon. The Blue Lagoon is a geothermal spa and the most relaxing, revitalizing experience ever.  Face masks, drinks, and food is offered, as well as steam rooms and saunas. The landscape is beautiful and unforgettable, with amazing nature that surrounds you.

Amsterdam

This summer I travelled to Amsterdam and had the most memorable experience. Amsterdam is the capital of  the Netherlands and it has originated as a small fishing village in the 12th century. When I arrived, I was fascinated by the cute houses and the numerous bikes and motorcycles in the streets. Another thing that stood out to me were the canals and the boats. When I went on a boat excursion I got to know some of the interesting history that surrounds this city. The people were extremely nice and interesting and many locals had an outstanding knowledge of English. Off course, one of the most amusing activities to do was shopping. There was a street with all of the chain brands called Kalverstraat. While that street was very enjoyable, I had the best experience exploring some more unique and uncommon stores located on streets like Utrechtsestraat and De Negen Straatjes. Without a doubt, the food in Amsterdam was delicious, with a wide variety of cute little cafes to choose from. Obviously, we couldn’t leave Amsterdam without filling our suitcases with the famous Dutch souvenirs like their different cheeses and Stroopwafels!

One wonderful place that i have always wanted to visit is Athens, Greece. It is the Capital and one of the largest cities in Greece. Being one of the worlds oldest cities in the world, Athens is filled with beautiful architecture and fascinating history.  Parthenon, the Acropolis, and the Temple of Hephaestus are definitely the must see architectural structures that Greece has to offer. The Benaki museum, Museum of Cycladic Art, and the National Archaeological Museum are just a few of the many wonderful museums to visit. One of the main shopping streets in Athens is Ermou street. On this street you can find big international names like Zara, Sephora, and Bershka. Aeolou and Agio Markos Street are the other well known streets in Athens. On these  colorful streets you will find button stores, ribbon stores, and cheap stores for shirts and shoes. The restaurants and cafes in Athens are absolutely breathtaking and will never fail to satisfy your cravings. Klimataria is a beautiful restaurant with live jazz music and a great atmosphere. Barbounaki is another place to eat with an extensive menu and delicious food, loved by both locals and tourists. In the mood for something sweet? Try a popular place named Paul and enjoy their wonderful croissants, macaroons and more!
