Iceland

Iceland is located on the North Atlantic Ocean, has a population of 332,529, making it the most low populated country in Europe. The capital of Iceland is Reykjavik, which combined with its surrounding areas holds over two thirds of the population.  Iceland is known for its beautiful nature and during our stay, we took a few excursions to see what Iceland has to offer. One of the tours that we took was to see the puffins. We went on a boat and the tour guides gave us some very interesting information about these cute creatures and we got to have a really close look at the puffins. There are many more outdoor activities to do like see the waterfalls, ride horses, and explore ice caves.  One thing that was very unexpected for us when we arrived was the price of the food. $100 can easily be spent on a dinner for two.  Without a doubt the most memorable part of my trip was visiting the Blue Lagoon. The Blue Lagoon is a geothermal spa and the most relaxing, revitalizing experience ever.  Face masks, drinks, and food is offered, as well as steam rooms and saunas. The landscape is beautiful and unforgettable, with amazing nature that surrounds you.

Amsterdam

This summer I travelled to Amsterdam and had the most memorable experience. Amsterdam is the capital of  the Netherlands and it has originated as a small fishing village in the 12th century. When I arrived, I was fascinated by the cute houses and the numerous bikes and motorcycles in the streets. Another thing that stood out to me were the canals and the boats. When I went on a boat excursion I got to know some of the interesting history that surrounds this city. The people were extremely nice and interesting and many locals had an outstanding knowledge of English. Off course, one of the most amusing activities to do was shopping. There was a street with all of the chain brands called Kalverstraat. While that street was very enjoyable, I had the best experience exploring some more unique and uncommon stores located on streets like Utrechtsestraat and De Negen Straatjes. Without a doubt, the food in Amsterdam was delicious, with a wide variety of cute little cafes to choose from. Obviously, we couldn’t leave Amsterdam without filling our suitcases with the famous Dutch souvenirs like their different cheeses and Stroopwafels!

Playa Del Carmen, Mexico

Over winter break I traveled to La Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. I stayed in a wonderful resort named Riu Yucatan. It was an all inclusive resort so you eat, drink, and sleep in the resort. There was plenty of entertainment and things to do that you could never ever be bored. There would be many  activities during the day time including stretching, darts, water polo, volleyball, zumba, and dance lessons. All of these activities would be led by the entertainment team, who would always talk to you and encourage you to participate. The nightly activities would be very fun too. After dinner, there would always be either dancing, games, or music in the lobby. Also the shows would be very interesting to watch and you even got the chance to participate in some of them. The City of Playa Del Carmen was just a 30 minute walk away and offers a variety of shops, restaurants, and  fun things to do! This was a wonderful vacation and I am hoping to be back soon!

New York City 12/15/17

Link

Recently, I went on a trip to New York and it was absolutely fascinating. The things to see and places to visit are limitless, the shopping is wonderful, and there is an abundant selection of cute cafes and restaurants. A very interesting place that I visited was the MoMa (Museum of Modern art). There were many interesting and famous works of art like Vincent Van Gogh’s, The Starry Night. Another amazing thing about New York is the possibility of running into a celebrity just about anywhere you go. On our first day there, we saw a movie scene being filmed with Jennifer Lopez in the scene. Walking through the Times Square at night was an unforgettable experience as well. It is very illuminated with lots of people there, and many open shops and restaurants even during the night. My absolute favorite restaurant that we I visited was Havana. It was a Cuban place right in times square and very hard to miss. We walked in at about twelve at night and the crowd was lively and live Spanish music was playing. The place felt very authentic with delicious food as well. For shopping purposes, Soho is probably the best street to go on. There is a large variety of stores and many food places within a five minute walk.
