btfl, Juan Soto

The Washington Nationals maybe a huge move when they called up 19 year old outfielder Juan Soto. People thought that it would be a year or two before he was officially called up, but the time is now. His first at-bat was a pinch hit and he struck out and would have to wait for his next chance to get his first hit. He got his first start against the San Diego Padres and made it count. In the second inning on the first pitch he got his first career hit and homerun. This is history since the last teenager to hit a homerun was teammate Bryce Harper. I believe this kid is going to be something special and can contribute to this injured Nationals team. He is getting a major opportunity to prove himself and I think he has done great so far. And it will no be too long before he gets another young stud with him in Victor Robles. When the Nats get everyone back except Howie Kendrick, they are going to be a hard squad to stop. I still believe they can win the world series if they can stay healthy.

btfl, Baker Mayfield

With the first pick in the 2018 draft, the Cleveland Browns selected Baker Mayfield from Oklahoma. This pick was very controversial because many people believe that Mayfield would have still been there for the Cleveland Browns at pick 4. They could have gotten what was considered the best prospect in Saquon Barkley, but they decided they wanted Baker and Denzel Ward instead. Personally I would have drafted Saquon then a QB because there is only one Saquon and many quarterbacks. I also that think that Baker could be good but he is very similar to an old Browns quarterback named Johnny Manziel. Now let’s talk about other teams in the league. I believe that the Bills, Giants, and Colts helped some key needs in the first round. Panthers throughout the draft picked up many new targets for Cam Newton (DJ Moore). Many people thought the Saints were going to draft Lamar Jackson when they traded up, but they ended up drafting Marcus Davenport. I honestly would have liked the Saints to draft Jackson because he could learn from Drew and they could mold their system around Lamar. Overall this draft was loaded with picks and many teams improved their rosters for next year. We are now one step closer to football season.

btfl, R.I.P. Legion of Boom

Today it was announced that the Seattle Seahawks have released Richard Sherman, disbanding the Legion of Boom. Richard Sherman who was looked at as the best corner in the game is now in the open market. People like Thomas Davis, of the Carolina Panthers said things that gave hints that he wants Sherman on the team. Personally being a Panthers fan, I would love to see him in a Carolina jersey. Especially because they traded Daryl Worley who plays the same position as Sherman. Adding both Torrey Smith and Richard Sherman could help the Panthers get back to their 2015 form.

btfl, Daniel Murphy and the Nationals

Daniel Murphy, a second baseman on the Washington Nationals had surgery this off-season on his right knee. There are still many questions on whether or not he will start the season. I have the Nats making the playoffs, and making a run at the title. This and the potential of the Braves could be a damper on my prediction. Good news for the Nats is that Wilmer Difo had an incredible season last year and can fill in while Murphy is out. The only worry is that Murphy does not have a timeline to when he will return. I have the Nationals right now going pretty far, and some people have the Nats making moves at big free agents like Jake Arrieta, Jonathan Lucroy, and Greg Holland. These addition could add up to the greatest Nationals team we have ever seen. Look out!

btfl, Tyrann Mathieu/ Jimmy Graham

This week in NFL the free agent market went crazy. The Cardinals had a crazy interaction with Safety Tyrann Mathieu because the Cardinals wanted him to take a pay cut, but he refused because he thought he deserved the money. That led to the Cardinals cutting him because their new head coach Steve Wilks came from Carolina where they don’t believe in high paid defensive backs. I could see Tyrann signing to either New York team because they both need a second safety and already have a super star. Secondly, Jimmy Graham signed with the Green Bay Packers to go play with Aaron Rodgers. This could be a deadly duo because Rodgers did not have a great red-zone threat last year. With this and a couple of defensive pick-ups the Packers could be back to their super bowl form.

What do you think about free agency right now?

btfl, Super Bowl LII

By now everybody knows that the Eagles won the Super Bowl. Just like every Super Bowl that the Patriots are in, there was a controversial call in fourth quarter. It happened when Eagles quarterback Nick Foles threw the ball to Zach Ertz to take the lead. Ertz ‘caught’ it and dove into the endzone, forcing the ball to bounce out of his grasp and go into the air. It was originally called a touchdown, and the call stood. In my opinion, if that was a touchdown, then the Jesse James ‘catch’ was a touchdown as well. The NFL has a big problem with leaving teams hoping the ‘catch’ call will go their way. As a fan I hope the NFL gets this problem solved, and can determine what a ‘catch’ is.

Right now in baseball the biggest story is that Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson will join the Yankees for spring training. In my opinion it is great that there are still players willing to play to professional sports. This also helps the Yankees get a major following in spring training.

btfl, NFL trades/Spring Training

Today it was announced that the Los Angeles Rams have aquired Marcus Peters from the Chiefs. This is a big move because the Rams fans were worried that their secondary was no longer going to be any good. The reason being they would have had to re-sign Trumaine Johnson and the Rams didn’t want to. Now it looks like the Browns will end up trying to sign Johnson. This could be the start to a good Browns team, and a potential super bowl run for the Rams.

In baseball news, today was the first day of spring training. The Nationals went up against the Astros, and in my opinion these are the 2 teams going to be in the World Series. It is kind of a homer pick, but I believe that the Nationals have a really good chance to win the series.

Hard for Chiefs fans to support Marcus Peters trade

btfl, the draft

As the NFL season came to a close we now have to look forward to things like the draft. This year we see interesting this like, the Browns having to top 5 picks, and the Bills having back-to-back first rounders. I really hope that teams like the Browns find luck in this years draft. I would like to provide my 2018 mock-draft.

btfl, Playoff Football and Baseball Offseason

Hello all, I first want to talk about the playoffs for football, and how crazy they are going. They are in the conference championship round, for the AFC it is the New England Patriots and the Jacksonville Jaguars. On the NFC side it is the Eagles and the Vikings. Personally I think the Saints should have been in this round, but a crazy last second touchdown by Stefon Diggs won the Vikings the game. Now for my predictions, I believe that the superbowl will have the Jaguars from the AFC, and the Vikings from the NFC. Let me know who you think is making the superbowl!

Secondly I want to talk about some of the big moves going down in baseball. The Pittsburgh Pirates making huge deals by dealing away center-fielder Andrew McCutchen and starting pitcher Gerrit Cole. Many people believe they could have gotten more but, I feel they made the correct decision because they potentially could have gotten nothing if Cole left in free agency. For the Astros they have solidified a good starting rotation and in my opinion, ready to take on the playoffs again. For me it is too early to predict the World Series, but do any of you already think you know who will be in it?
