The line of humans coming to see me was very long. I used to love the attention, now I’m tired of performing the same tricks. I waved my trunk in the air and stomped my feet to show the humans I wouldn’t do any more tricks.
“It looks like Happy the Elephant is done for today. Come back tomorrow to see her paint!” my caretakers said. Ugh. More? I had to of painted everything from a purple flower to a violin, and they never seem to have enough. I’m tired of this charade. I refuse to do any more stunts.
Angelina,
It was clever the way you made this piece from the elephant’s perspective. I can only imagine how some performing animals must be so tired of–like you say–the charade involved in their stunts. What empathy you have shown in this piece! Keep writing.
