Addiction towards social media Blog #2

One source I found about social media addiction and its effects is titled, “Celebs talk about social media and technology being an addiction.” This article basically talks about the negative influence technology has upon this generation and how we centralize everything we do about it. This article has different celebrities giving their opinions all about how social media changes our perspective and the reason why we do most things. They all give their personal examples and experiences they have seen to prove it to back up their claims. Overall, the article strongly supports the idea that addiction is a destructive urge to society and how it makes all our actual feelings look artificial.

This is a good source to aid me in my research question because it essentially answers the big question. It also has different viewpoints from celebrities that back up the whole ideology of social media being a negative influence on society. It includes all the important information relating to personal experiences from the celebrities along with examples to show how people aren’t living just to live but rather to show everyone else what they’re doing.

It’s a little shallow what our generation has come to. Nobody really has the encouragement to actually enjoy each other’s presence. It’s always about taking pictures and updating your followers. Even when going out to eat, people stop to take pictures of the food first to be able to enjoy it. All in all, mostly everyone has a strong connection to social media which isn’t healthy for us to be absorbed and take priority in.

I really enjoyed your conclusion paragraph and agree that people care more about their media presence than their physical presence. I think that it may be helpful to make your thesis a little more specific. Yes it is true that social media tends to be addictive but maybe you can focus on a certain element that the celebs in the article talk about.

The article is really interesting and definitely a strong piece of evidence. That being said, there seems to only be one side of the argument. To further bolster your argument it’s a good idea to anticipate what the opposing side will use against you.

I agree with your statement on how our generation is addicted to our phones and technology overall. The article was a good source and it was good when you kept referring back to your source and building on top of everything. It certainly is concerning and sad to see that like you said, “Nobody really has the encouragement to actually enjoy each other’s presence”.

I found your statements about “artificial feelings” and “living to show everyone else what you’re doing” as an effective strategy that makes the reader genuinely question this problem. On top of that, explaining how it affects day to day activities such as going out to eat gives the idea of urgency.
When it comes to strategy, I noticed you took more time to explain your own thoughts rather than summarizing the article. This indicates that you have much to say on this topic; even more than the article itself.
