My Promiscuous Pepper

Entry#1: The pepper is sitting on my desk. It’s pretty small and bright red. It has a nice long stem sticking out the top. The shape is kinda lumpy and funny looking. It gives off a weird odor. Just thinking about biting into it makes my tongue burn because I know how spicy it is. It looks boring to look at after a while and I regret not buying something more interesting. When I first bought it on Tuesday I put in my backpack and left it there until today. I could tell the shade has gotten a little bit darker. I’m really hoping it doesn’t rot in my backpack because then it would stink. Looking at the pepper, I get a huge urge to just smash it, I don’t know why. Its seems wrong but I just wanna see it get destroyed. The urge was strong but I was mature enough to bring it to class in one piece. Thankfully, it was also small in size so it wasn’t a hassle to bring around.

Entry #2: The pepper is now sitting on my desk. The kinda moldy wrinkled red pepper that’s been sitting in my backpack for a couple of days. I had to buy another pepper because I was worried my first one would rot. Well now it has a friend. My old pepper is slowly losing its life like a grandma in a coma. While my new one is a brand new fetus. It’s only a matter of days before the new one turns just like my first one. I’m still currently fighting the urge to smash it. Maybe I will when we are finally done writing entries on it.

Entry #3: Peppers aren’t my favorite vegetable but it seems like my bond has been slowly growing with it. Both of the peppers are still currently sitting on my desk. One looking in decent shape while the other wants to be thrown out. They both are in different shapes but one of them can’t stand up right. Sometimes I feel like the peppers are calling out my name but I might be going crazy. The next time I bring them to school they’ll definitely both be in bad condition. I’m just hoping I don’t have to go out and get a third one.

Time seems to move you from wishing to do violence to your peppers to bonding with them. I’m glad the peppers are getting under your skin (in a good way)! I enjoy the detail in your description — the inability of one of them to stand up — and your well-grounded concern for your backpack. I wonder if you tried eating even a little of your ripening peppers . . .

Your description of the pepper is really creative and shows the bond you have developed with your organic object. Your representation of the pepper to real life events is also very unique.
