An unfortunate effect of school closures falls on the senior class as the senior milestones including; sports, homecoming/prom, pep rallies, and other final high school experiences have been tragically cancelled. However, these hard times of 2020 didn’t stop the senior class from working hard to ensure seniors a special last year of high school.
On Oct. 23, Freedom High School hosted an outdoor movie night for all seniors to provide the opportunity for students to reconnect with their peers and have a fun experience while following safety guidelines. To ensure that everything was safe, students were required to wear masks, stay six feet apart from other groups, and fill out a health check form.
The event took place on the FHS football field from 7-10:30 p.m. There was a jumbo blow up movie screen placed in the field displaying the film “Black Panther.” Students sat 6 feet apart from other blankets to ensure social distancing boundaries.
Vice president of the senior class, Celine Sayegh, helped to coordinate the outdoor movie night in hopes of creating a special experience for the class of 20-21.
Sayegh, among with the other senior class officers, were excited that their hard work paid off.
“It was so nice seeing so many of us together watching a movie on school grounds, I’d say it was a pretty fun bonding experience,” Sayegh said “I remember I looked around and saw everyone talking and having fun and it made me smile real big. I really hope we can do more events like this again it was a special experience.”
