On Wednesday April 24, Freedom’s unified track team held its first meet of the season. Many people came out in support of the team, cheering as the athletes participated in their respective events.
The event came after multiple weeks of practice in anticipation of the first meet. The Unified athletes and partners came together to compete in events ranging from the 400 x 100m relay to shot put. Volunteers also participated in the game by assisting and cheering on the athletes.
Athletes from Rock Ridge, Potomac Falls and Stone Bridge were also present, yet Freedom was the only school that had a Unified team participate.
Overall, the track meet was successful and both partners and athletes are excited for the upcoming events later on in the season.
