There are many great places to spend winter break, but perhaps the most unique and exhilarating is Great Britain. Consisting of England, Scotland and Wales, this European island boasts some of the most exciting tourist attractions.
The first place I’d like to highlight is London. England’s capital has an array of spectacles, all within a city where ancient architectures coexist with modern skyscrapers. In addition to Big Ben and the London Eye, must-sees in London include Soho, The Tower Bridge and Trafalgar Square.
- In the West End of London, bright lights welcome pedestrians to Soho.
- The Tower Bridge suspending over the River Thames.
- While the December Holidays are in full swing, a menorah shines bright over Trafalgar square.
If you’re not much of a city person, I recommend England’s countryside. In Hampshire, ample farmland meets small quiet villages.
- The country roads provide beautiful scenery.
- In the quiet town of Stockbridge, High Street provides plenty of places to eat and shop.
Last but certainly not least, Scotland’s capital is also quite magnificent. Edinburgh is enriched with history and contains some of the most beautiful scenery in the world.
- The sign next to this fountain reads: “This drinking fountain commemorates the people executed here for witchcraft in 1500s and 1600s.”
- The top of the hills surrounding Arthur’s seat provide a magnificent view of the city.
- Edinburgh Castle is one of the oldest fortified places in Europe.
From the green countryside to the medieval marvels, Great Britain is a wonderful place to spend the holidays.
