Freedom began its Inclusive Schools Week activities on Monday, Dec. 2 by having students pose as the “I” in KIND before the school day begun.
The first week of December is Inclusive Schools Week, an annual event dedicated to recognizing and advocating for inclusivity in schools.
The photo opportunity was put together by Helping Other People Everday Club and Freedom’s Unified Sports program. The HOPE Club and Unified Sports are programs dedicated to advocating for inclusivity in schools.
“Inclusive Schools Week is important, but it’s more important that we are inclusive all the time, not just for one week a year,” said Jenna Arndt, a sponsor of Unified Sports and HOPE Club. “The Freedom High School community is a melting pot of so many different cultures, races, languages, and ability levels and that’s what makes us great. We need to show respect for everyone, all the time and treat others as we want to be treated.”
“Inclusive Schools Week is an important time for the Freedom community to celebrate the differences and achievements of our diverse student population,” said Colleen Hurley, a sponsor of Unified Sports. “Everyone has a unique story and perspective that adds to the beautiful tapestry that is our Freedom Eagle Community.”
