Athletes prepare for their race in the infield as spectators wait patiently for the next race in the bleachers.

Freedom High School hosted their first home track and field meet of the season on April 24. The meet was a quad meet, consisting of Freedom, Stone Bridge, Rock Ridge and Potomac Falls. The event was also Freedom’s Unified Track and Field team’s first meet of the season. The girls team took the lead with a total of 90 points and the boys had a total of 83 points, making it an extremely successful day for Freedom sports. Currently, there are 21 district qualifiers for Freedom, both boys and girls combined, and there are still five more meets until post season begins. The next meet takes place on Saturday, April 27, at James Wood High School in Winchester.
