Freedom makes a splash against Woodgrove

On Friday, Nov. 30, the Freedom swim team lost their meet against Briar Woods at Ida Lee Park Recreation Center, with a final score of 111-175. However, the next day, the team was not upset, but ready to work extra hard to beat their competition.

On Saturday, Dec. 1, the Freedom swim team met at Dulles South Recreation Center to compete against Woodgrove High School. With the rec center being less than a mile from FHS, the eagle spirit was high. Both parents and students filled up the stands ready to cheer on the team. Although many swimmers were still tired from the meet the night before, and other students had come to this meet straight from their SAT at Champe, the FHS swim team reigned victorious with a final score of 207-78.

“The boys swept a lot of their events and the girls did really good as well,” said Katie O’Brien, head coach and FHS math teacher. “This is the first win, and I think we’re going to do really well the rest of the season.”

The next swim meet will be held at Dulles South Recreation Center against Potomac Falls on Dec. 8.
