The Freedom Eagles got off to a slow start in the first game of the year, as Heritage led 14-0 through the second quarter. The Eagles scored their first touch down before halftime. In the third quarter, Heritage put up two more touch downs making the score 28-7.  Freedom struck again late in the fourth quarter, but Heritage had already ran away with the game. The final score was 54-14.

Although the score board didn’t reflect the team’s effort, players have already noticed some improvement from last year.

“We focused on a lot of positional work, conditioning and team concepts during the offseason,” Eagle lineman Shady Daniel said.

Freedom will play at Riverside on Friday, Aug. 31. Game time is 7 p.m.
