Dominion Winter Track takes on the FIT Invitational!

On the 27th of December, Dominion Winter Track will be attending the FIT Invitational in Landover, Maryland. This will be the first actual indoor meet that Dominion Winter Track will be attending. This meet is very selective, considering around 35 teams will be attending! Only twenty girls and twenty boys will be attending this meet out of 130 members on the Dominion Winter Track team. The girls 4×800 relay is hoping to run a state time of 10:20 and currently we have a 10:27, so we must drop seven seconds to move on to States! This meet is located at the Prince George’s County Sports Complex. Please come support Dominion Winter Track’s first indoor track meet!

This Saturday, December second, was Dominion winter track’s first meet! It was the David Cannon Memorial Invitational at G.C. Marshall High School. Winter track was just added to Dominion due to the growing success of our XC and track team.  Dominion boys placed second in the meet at the girls placed sixth. One thing I had noticed was a strengthening of our sprinting side of our team. Our distance team is very strong due to the success of our XC team but our sprinting side has been a bit weaker the past few years. However, they really showed that they are picking it up this past meet!

Now, the team is training for our next meet this Saturday in Haymarket, Virginia. It is the Bobcat Blizzard invitational hosted by Battlefield High School. This meet is relatively larger than the last one, hosting 21 teams.

Overall, Dominion Winter Track had a great first ever meet!
