Region 4A C Championships

This Wednesday, May 23rd, and Friday, May 25th, are the Region 4A C Championships. There are fourteen teams that are all extremely good – the best team in the nation is in our region. While competition with be intense, this will push us to do our very best. Both the girls and the boys 4X800’s are seeded first and will take place as the only running events on Wednesday. Wednesday is the field event day, where many of the field events will take place. Wednesday is at John Handley High in Winchester and Friday is at Millbrook High in Leesburg. I am so excited for this meet because the top four individuals and relay teams move onto the state championships, and our girls 4X800 relay has good chances of advancing to states! Please make it out and support the team if you can!

Dulles Districts

Dominion spring track is heading to Dulles Districts tomorrow at Loudoun County High School in Leesburg, VA. The 3200 meter run, or the two mile, is today to allow those runners to run events tomorrow and not have to worry about the 3200 later. However, it is expected to thunderstorm tomorrow at 3 p.m. and 4 p.m., so they might delay or postpone the meet. At districts, top four relays and top eight individuals move on to regionals. I am running the 800 tomorrow, and I hope to break 2:30 and move on to regionals by placing top eight. Regionals Wednesday and Friday next week, Wednesday being at John Handley and Friday being at James Woods. Unfortunately, I am missing both a Chemistry SOL and a math test on Wednesday! Wish us luck and come support us at the meet tomorrow, which starts at 3 p.m.!

Spring Track: Post Season Update

We are almost at the end of the regular season of spring track, with only two meets left – all this week. We have a home meet here at Dominion today, the ninth of May (make it out to see it!), and one more meet on Friday at Millbrook high school. After the Last Chance Invitational at MillbrooSee the source imagek, we have conference, regionals, then states. The girls 4X800 has made regionals and we are going to try and qualify for states this Friday, having to get the time of 9:58. This FAST time means all four runners in tImage result for track and fieldhe relay have to run under 2:30 for their leg of the 800. To put the time in perspective, Dominion’s HS record for the 4X800 is a 10:05. The boys relay qualified for states last Saturday at the Nike Spring Invitational at South Lakes HS, where they also won the entire meet. I am trying to qualify for regionals in the 800 today, which means I have to run a 2:27. Wish our team luck!

Dominion Track goes to James Woods High School

This weekend is THE 50th Apple Blossom Invitational at James Woods High School! I personally love this meet and this track because the track feels shorter and your races feel faster! I am running the 4X800, 800, and the 4X400 meter relay, so I will be exhausted by the end of the day! Top six individual events and relay events metal, so I hope to be coming home with three! This meet is an exciting one and the weather looks nice this weekend, so I am very nervous but ready for this meet. Try to come out to the meet to support your DHS Track and Field team! The meet is April 28th at James Woods High School and starts at 9:3o!

Dominion Track takes on the Battlefield Relays

This Saturday, the 17th, is Dominion Track’s first meet of the season, and it is an all relay meet. I am running a 400 in the DMR (distance medley relay) and a 400 in the 4X400 meter relay at the end of the meet. This meet is at Battlefield High School in Haymarket, Virginia. Unfortunately, it is supposed to rain so it will be a rainy meet. The only individual event in the freshman/sophomore 1600. The additional relays are the 4X1600, DMR, SMR, 800 meter sprint relay, 4X200, and freshman/sophomore 4X400. This meet in particular is my favorite of all our meets because it’s very different, which makes it very fun because we are not doing the same events every meet, because now Image result for battlefield relayswe get to change it up. Hopefully you can make it out to watch it!

Dominion Track Intrasquad Meet

This Saturday, March 10th, is Dominion Spring Track’s “first” meet. Technically not a real meet, we are going against each other to see how well suited we are for specific events. With so many new members, it is very important that we have this because the coaches and the athletes need to find out which events they can be their best at: sprinting, mid-distance, distance, jumping, or throwing. We are having three teams, white, silver, and

black, and the coaches are scoring all the events like a real meet. This creates even more competition among us all. I am very excited for this ‘mock’ meet and I hope that you can come out and support the team! The meet is at the Dominion track tomorrow from 2 – 5 pm.

Spring Track Starts!

Last week, the spring track season started! Dominion had LOTS of people come out – around 175 boys and girls. It is now the second week and the numbers have thinned a bit, now with around 150 people. This team has great potential and I’m very excited to see what we can do! We had time trials on tuesday and we saw some great performances made by everyone. Our mock-meet is coming up on the tenth of March, and is something we call a intrasquad meet. We are going to split our large Image result for spring trackteam into three teams and we are going to then race against each other in all events. This allows the coaches to see the top performers in every event and see which events might be best for us. These meets cause a great amount of competition between us, but that causes us to run our fastest! I’m so excited for this upcoming season, so stay posted for more information!

Dominion Winter Track Finishes the Season at the 4A State Championships

Dominion Winter Track concluded their very first season at the VHSL 4A championship in Salem, Virginia. The meet was held at Roanoke College in the Creggar-Kerr indoor facility on campus.

Our team stayed at the Comfort Suites Hotel for two nights, thursday and friday night, and it was an amazing experience. Our team went out to dinner together and we saw a movie at a local theater. It was great a team bonding experience and I feel like I’m closer with my teammates.

The meet started on friday the 23rd at around noon. The boys 4X800 meter relay ran first and placed fourth and then the girls 4X800 meter relay ran and placed tenth. The girls team was finished at states with the conclusion of the relay, but the boys participated in many individual events.

Overall, I loved going to states for winter/indoor track and hope to go again for spring track!Image result for 2018 4A indoor track championships

Dominion Winter Track Moves on to Regionals!

The Dominion Winter Track team did exceptionally well at the District meet! Boys won the District meet – beating our rivals, Loudoun Valley. The girls placed second in the meet, and we placed better than we were expecting. Now we move on to Regionals! Valley is putting in their best runners, so we have tough competition. There are ten other teams in our district and most of them have very fast teams. To qualify for states, you can either make the qualifying states time or place top six in individual events or top three for relays. The meet is at Hagerstown Community College and starts at 3:45 pm on 2/9/18. Please come out and support the team! We need a lot of support and qualify for states, and states is a two day meet! Starting the 23rd and ending the 24th at Roanoke College down in Salem, Virginia.

Dominion Winter Track races at the Winter Jacket Invitational!

Dominion Winter Track is heading to Osbourn Park High School in Manassas, Virginia this Saturday, the 20th. This meet races for a good cause – collecting winter jackets and warm clothes for the needy! So if you attend the meet, please bring any winter coats or jackets that you would like to donate! Dominion is racing against 22 other teams at the meet so we are up to a lot of competition! Personally, I am trying long jump for the first time because we have no female jumpers and we are losing points by having no girls compete in those events. I am competing in four events Saturday so I will be completely exhausted by the end of the meet! I am running in the 4X800 meter relay, in the 1000 meter run, the 4X400 meter relay, and I am doing long jump! It will be a nice day for competing – a warm 57 degrees for the high so this won’t be a chilly “winter” track meet! This Saturday will be exciting so please come out and support Dominion!
