For my next artwork, the focus of my piece is going to be an elephant with broken tusks. This signifies poachers cutting off elephant trunks to trade and sell as ivory trinkets. I want my piece to highlight this problem because behind every pair of tusks lies a dead elephant. For this piece, I plan to create a piece using scratch paper. I think that using this material will allow me to put a lot of detail into my piece as well as give my final portfolio some variety. In this sketchbook spread, I focused on the proportions of the animal and tried to figure out how I would use highlights and shadows to really bring the elephant to life.

I love the idea and composition of you doing an elephant. I love how you filled and sketched out the different parts of the body. I’m so excited on how it’s going to look like!
