I Will Always Write Back: How One Letter Changed Two Lives by Caitlin Alifirenka, Martin Ganda, and Liz Welch

22875069This was one of the best books I read this summer.  It evoked so many emotions in me.  I laughed, I cried, I screamed, I cheered, I could not put this book down.  I highly recommend it.

Caitlin, a seventh grader, at the time the book begins, is giving an assignment to write a letter to a pen pal.  All of her classmates chose pen pals from “normal” places but Caitlin choses Zimbabwe because it sounds exotic.  Martin lives in Zimbabwe and is the recipient of Caitlin’s letter.  Caitlin’s letter starts a six year correspondence between the two,  but it goes further than just the letters.  Through their letters, the two learn about each other, become best friends, and learn how kindness can change lives.
