John Champe started a new school year this past Thursday. However, the school seems much smaller due to missing their 2022 class. Champe, which has been overcrowded for many years, is now down to just three grades, with eighth and ninth grade attending Willard Intermediate School.
Many students have mixed feelings about this change. Some think that everything around school seems much smaller than last year and some do not even see that big of a change. For some people, however, the change has been beneficial. “I could not believe that I was able to actually get a seat at lunch today,” said sophomore Teagan Palatt. In addition to that, classes are also smaller sized and do not seem as overcrowded as last year. It has not been even a week yet for school, so it may be too early to see if the removal of ninth graders really has that much of an impact. Only time will whether or not this change will be effective and worth all the money put into it.
