The company reportedly paid the $5 million ransom to cyber attackers restoring gas flow back to a lot of the southeastern US.

The pipeline is responsible for around 45% of the fuel  in the southeastern US including jet fuel too. The incident caused a lot of people to panic buy gasoline which lead to a lot of shortages across the east coast. The FBI had identified the group as the DarkSide as the ones responsible.
