Representative Liz Cheney from Wyoming was removed from the chair of House GOP Conference, the third most powerful position among house Republicans. This comes after Cheney’s history of fierce opposition to Former President Donald Trump’s claims that the 2020 Presidential Election was stolen. The GOP’s main focus is to use Trump’s momentum from the 2020 election in order to gain seats in the House of Representatives in the 2022 midterm elections, which has made Cheney an issue for the party’s voter base.
Rep. Elise Stefanik from New York is rumored to take up Cheney’s former position.
