Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk hosted Saturday Night Live this past weekend amid much controversy. Appearing in a variety of sketches from Nintendo’s Wario to a cowboy, both Musk and his partner Grimes took the stage on SNL. However, prior to Musk’s appearance on the show a handful of SNL cast members expressed their irritation with the choice of host. Following this, the show made it clear that cast members would be allowed to skip the program if they chose to do so. A large reason Musk has garnered so much controversy is likely due to his immense wealth and his extensive past of being an awful person according to some people. In just the past year, Musk has spread unfounded concern and confusion in regards to Covid-19 vaccines, downplayed the threat of Covid-19, said many out-of-pocket Tweets, and many more. For this reason both the audience and SNL cast members weren’t so keen on their upcoming host.
Following Musk’s appearance on the show, his skits have led to more controversy as Dogecoin dropped in prices following a week of heavy increase and the generation Z skit didn’t sit well with many viewers.
