The 2020 census results revealed the makeup of the House of Representatives for the next 10 years. States that lost house seats include Illinois, Michigan, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. States that gained seats include Texas, Colorado, Florida, and North Carolina among others. For the first time, California did not gain any house seats with the new census.
States in the ‘Rust Belt’ feel the most effects of decreased populations and migration of citizens to other states. Western states and ‘Sun Belt’ states will maintain their grip on the House of Representatives for the next ten years.
