On Monday, December 14, the Electoral College officially declared Joe Biden as the 46th president of the United States of America. California was the final state in deciding his win, with their votes pushing him over the 270 votes required. The final results showed Biden with 302 electoral votes and Trump with 232 electoral votes. After the results, Biden made a speech to legitimize his win and he responded to all of Trump’s claims that he election results were fake. With this information it will be very difficult for Trump to disapprove the results of the election, so it is time for him to start adjusting in order to hand over his power to the new president. During Biden’s speech, he not only talked about the election results, but he also discussed the power of a democracy and everything that it entails. He stated that, ¨In America, politicians don’t take power. People grant power to them.¨
